Vote For Nikila Walker Gibson

My Bio

I’m running for Mayor because Fairfield is at a point where we have to think differently about our future. We’ve been dealing with a structural budget deficit for years, and we cannot simply cut services and tax our way out of it. We have to grow. For years, I’ve worked in economic development, workforce investment, education, business, and regional partnerships. I currently sit in rooms where conversations are happening about where investment is going, what industries need to grow, and how communities prepare their residents for the jobs of the future. And I kept coming back to the same question: How do we bring more of those partnerships, investments, and opportunities home to Fairfield? I’m running because I believe Fairfield needs leadership that will actively compete for investment, strengthen our local businesses, build our workforce, and create more career-level opportunities for our residents. That growth gives us a stronger foundation to protect the services people depend on and address the issues affecting their everyday lives, from public safety and homelessness to housing, infrastructure, and opportunities for our young people. I’m not coming to this work starting from scratch. I’ve already been building relationships across government, business, education, workforce development, and community organizations. I’m ready to bring that work home and Build Fairfield Forward.

My Key Issues

Economic Opportunity & Careers

Fairfield cannot cut its way out of a structural deficit. We must grow strategically, attract quality employers, support local businesses, expand our tax base, and create career pathways that allow residents to build successful lives here at home. My first steps include: Developing a long-term economic development strategy focused on expanding Fairfield’s tax base. Strengthening partnerships with employers, educational institutions, workforce organizations, and regional agencies. Supporting small businesses while attracting industries that create family-supporting wages.

Public Safety and Community Well-Being

Every resident deserves to feel safe. Public safety is about more than emergency response. It includes prevention, youth engagement, mental health resources, neighborhood investment, and trust between residents and public institutions. My first steps include: Meeting with public safety leadership and community partners to identify immediate priorities. Supporting collaborative violence prevention and youth engagement efforts. Ensuring public safety investments are aligned with long-term community needs.

Transportation & Access To Opportunity

Transportation connects people to jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunity. As Fairfield grows, we must improve mobility, regional connectivity, and infrastructure so residents can access opportunities throughout Solano County and beyond. My first steps include: Reviewing current transportation and infrastructure priorities. Working with regional partners to improve connectivity. Advocating for investments that expand access to employment and education.

Housing & Quality Of Life

Housing should support young adults, growing families, seniors, and everyone in between. We need thoughtful growth that protects Fairfield’s character while ensuring residents have opportunities to live, work, and remain in the community they love. My first steps include: Reviewing housing policies alongside infrastructure and economic development plans. Supporting housing choices that meet diverse community needs. Promoting development that strengthens neighborhoods and quality of life.

Collaborative Leadership & Partnerships

The best solutions come from the people closest to the challenges. Leadership is not about having every answer. It is about bringing people together, listening, building partnerships, and helping move good ideas into action. As Mayor, I will continue building relationships across business, education, nonprofits, government, and our neighborhoods because Fairfield’s future will not be built by one person. It will be built by all of us. Together, we can Build Fairfield Forward.
